Business is simple, people are complicated
So we’ve moved from our blissful Bali villa into the main touristy area in Kuta.
We’ve gone from birds chirping in the morning, to scooters and horns.
Either way we were waking up early. And because my brain refuses to sleep before midnight, I’ve started taking naps again, which makes me sound 70 years old but that’s ok.
I’ve dabbled with polyphasic sleep before.
Did you know the creator of WordPress, Matt Mullenweg, wrote the code for the 1st version of WordPress around the clock – taking 20-minute naps every 3 hours or something.
For more on this read The Four Hour Body by Tim Ferriss. I’d add an Amazon affiliate link but they pay peanuts hehe.
According to him and a bunch of scientific studies, and according to my own small experiments, a 20-minute nap during the day can cut off an hour of your nightly sleep without sacrificing sleep quality.
I do some of my best work in the evenings, late at night, often past midnight.
You’ve really got to find what works for you, and do that.
Business is simple, people keep complicating it.
It’s tempting to try new hacks, new media channels, new strategies, but it’s the Shiny Object Syndrome all over again.
I wasted years chasing shiny objects, scattering my focus, until I had to go back and get another job to pay the bills.
The secret to success is in clarity. Knowing what you want, and driving towards that with purpose. Following through on one thing until it’s working properly, only then moving on.
The 80/20 principle is at work in everything.
Especially funnels.
If you’re trying to build out a funnel but it’s frustrating you, if it’s not done and you aren’t sure what to do, take a step back and look around.
Are you focused on one outcome? Or do you have a million things going on?
Only a gifted few can truly do multiple things at once, and do them well.
That’s partially why I created the Instant Copy Templates product I recently released.
See, if you have the template already done for you, writing your copy to fit into it gets that much easier.
Anyway, we’re saddling up a rented 250cc scooter, headed up to Ubud to see what all the fuss is about. Hope they have good wifi.
