The Comparison Trap
Fancy funnels and ninja guru tricks might look sexy from the outside, but for 99% of marketers they’re killing your success.
Because there’s something about human nature that makes us wanna use those ninja hacks.
Something about the way we tick that keeps us bogged down.
Something we all suffer from at times…
The Comparison Trap.
We see a new funnel trick and say “Man, I gotta have that”. And it’s great to implement new stuff… but the important part is IMPLEMENT.
See, it’s so easy to get bogged down in trying new complex things, when something simple woulda worked.
And it prob woulda worked BETTER… because it got IMPLEMENTED.
Sure, Mindvalley might have a nifty 30-day funnel that adds a bunch of sales to their bottom line, but can you IMPLEMENT that in a reasonable about of time, and get it working profitably?
And sure, some of you out there CAN put this stuff together in short order, get it humming and make a bunch of extra cash from it.
But for most of us, remember this:
Keep It Simple Stupid.
It’s something I try to keep in mind with every new project.
If I can put together a simple-ass funnel in a few days, with 5 emails and a powerpoint VSL, isn’t that better than working on a big funnel for 3 months and hoping it turns out to be worth it?
Not just in money – but your TIME investment too.
See, just cause that fancy funnel works on autopilot once it’s turned on… doesn’t mean there’s no time investment.
You already made that investment over those 3 months when you were building it out, fine tuning it.
Are the potential gains worth the opportunity cost, because you were slaving away nights and weekends on that thing?
Or – could you put together a few emails and an order form – and given the right market, you’ve made a bunch of sales by the time that 3 month mark comes around?
It’s a lot easier to fine tune a funnel after 3 months of profitable sales, than it is to launch a big funnel after 3 months of working for free, and hope it’s a home run.
Cause home runs are rare (unless you read biz opp sales letters all day lol)
Play the percentages, keep it simple stupid and get SUMTHIN out there making money, ASAP.
