How to get 10,988 pieces of market research on autopilot
Over the past few weeks I’ve gathered 10,988 pieces of pure GOLD.
And this could be a game-changing marketing tip for anyone who wants to truly KNOW their market.
One of the most powerful things in marketing and copywriting – the real secret to writing copy that sells – is to KNOW your customer.
Know them like the back of your hand.
Know them better than their moms.
Know what they love, what they hate, what they fear, what frustrates them, what they’re dying to change and what they are clinging on to for dear life.
This is the key to the early success of our dating offer, although I must give Rob Wiser full credit for his in depth market knowledge.
But here’s where I’m obtaining the intel I need to optimize:
In about 2016, I went through Ryan Levesque’s ASK Method Masterclass.
One of the big things about Ryan’s strategy is Knowing Your Customer.
And one way to do that is by surveying your email list – but I noticed another small thing that Ryan taught, that has made all the difference.
The ‘Did you get my email’ email.
Here’s how it works: After the person opts in, or in our case, after they buy the front end product, we send them a bunch of emails.
But one that I “modeled” from Ryan is a short, personal-sounding email that goes out a few hours after they enter the funnel.
And that’s the email which in a few short weeks has gathered for me a goldmine in customer pain points.
It’s probably the world’s simplest email – basically “Hey, did you get my email with the Lead Magnet/Login Deets? If so, let me know and tell me about yourself…”
That’s pretty much it.
The funny thing is… they will respond.
They’ll pour out their hearts to you… because you asked.
And it’s that intel which is proving to be worth its weight in gold.
Because now I’ve got real live customer-origin pain points, context and scenarios to draw from when I’m writing the copy.
You better believe this will all go into the next version of the sales page.
This is as valuable as the feedback you’ll get from a phone call with a customer. But you don’t have to get on the phone and talk, you scaredy-cat.
Just give them a break from the constant barrage of sales emails, and ASK them how they’re doing.
The answer may surprise you… and it WILL make your copy 10x more effective.
